I found two solution, both require additional software besides GIMP, but are fairly easy to implement.One solution is given\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/weblog.kevinclarke.info\/2009\/07\/01\/howto-xcf-with-layers-to-pdf-with-pages\/\">here<\/a>. It requires a plug-in or script to export individual layers to separate tiff files (something which perhaps surprisingly is not possible out-of-the-box in GIMP). The before-mentioned site suggest the script \u201cSave Layers as Individual Files\u201d, which can be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.panotools.org\/wiki\/images\/8\/86\/Save-layers-tiff-24.zip\">downloaded<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.panotools.org\/\">Panotools<\/a>. Next step is to use<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imagemagick.org\/\">ImageMagick<\/a>\u00a0to convert the tiff files into a single pdf file.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Unfortunately the script throws up an error when I try to open it. Luckily I found an even easier solution\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/patrick-nagel.net\/blog\/archives\/199\">here<\/a>. No need for a separate plugin, but you still need\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.graphicsmagick.org\/\">GraphicsMagick<\/a>\u00a0or<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imagemagick.org\/\">ImageMagick<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the GIMP file with multiple layers<\/li>\n<li>Make sure to order the layers in reverse order, page 1 must by the bottom layer, the last page the top layer<\/li>\n<li>Save the file as a MNG animation.
